Out of the Kitchen, Onto the Couch

Great article in the New York Times today by Michael Pollan!

For the rise of Julia Child as a figure of cultural consequence -- along with Alice waters and Mario Batali and Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse and whoever is crowned the next Food Network star -- has, paradoxically, coincided with the rise of fast food, home-meal replacements and the decline and fall of everyday home cooking."

  1. Thanks for posting this natalie. It's a longish one though...and towards the middle I was wondering if if was going anywhere. In the end Pollan pulls through and the last couple of pages deliver some great "food for thought."

  2. Michael Pollan, a respected thinker and certainly provocative, has become mandarin in his writing.
