Tomato Bisque
Warm:
1 TBS Butter
Saute on medium heat until translucent:
1/2 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
Add:
1 quart canned tomatoes
1/2 cup of red wine
and
pinch of italian herbs, salt and pepper
Let simmer for about 5 minutes
(Optional) Add:
1 cup of broth
Simmer (do not boil) for another 10 minutes
Puree with immersion blender
Add:
1/2 cup of heavy cream
Warm through, and enjoy!

I had an interesting tomato bisque recently it was flavored with spices one would find in Indian food - cumin, a touch of a mild sweet curry powder and cilantro. It was amazing, I am going to be making it but I think its going to need some tweaking :). - Ushan
